Dear parents,
We will be organising a hands-on workshop for parents on Cyberwellness this Saturday, 12 July 2014. Here are more details on the workshop:
Date: 12 July 2014 (Sat)
Time: 9am - 12pm
Title: The Art and Science of Parenting in the Internet Age (Hands-on workshop)
Venue: Computer Lab 3 (Level 3, above staff room)
Fees: $5/pax, $8/couple
Synopsis: The Art & Science of Parenting in the Internet Age - Raising children and teenagers in the age of the Internet can no longer depend on physical monitoring and traditional parenting methods alone. It is imperative that parents learn to actively mediate and regulate their children’s use of technological tools. This two-part workshop brings parents on a journey to discover the online world and learn core skills required to keep up with their children. Parents of young children learn to select and use technological tools to augment their real-world parenting. They will learn to set up filters and parental control software and use them appropriately. Parents will also learn to play the same games and use social platforms that engage their children.
Speaker Profile: Mr Poh Yeang Cherng is Director and Principal and consultant at Kingmaker Consultancy Pte Ltd. He is a pioneer of the Cyber Wellness movement in Singapore and has served on the National Internet Advisory Committee’s Cyber Wellness task force (2002-2005).
